After talking with several people, the idea has been presented to me that some people would like to access the music that is done each Sunday for themselves outside of our Sunday morning gatherings. In response I am going to begin posting the songs we do each week and where you may be able to find them. Hope this is helpful as you continue to worship throughout the week.

Hello Sojourners,

It is a privilege to worship with you each Sunday morning for te few hours that we have together. As we continue to move forward as a body I would love to see more involvement from people who have a heart for the Lord’s and a giftedness in music.

Next Sunday, June 8, we will have band auditions. If you are interested in being involved please fill out an information sheet this Sunday, June 1, and pick up a copy of a couple of songs to practice during the week and play on the audition day. Please spread the word and let others know who may not check the website. Auditions will be 2pm Sunday, June 8. Thanks!

Wesley

Ancient Christian Devotional25Dec

Debbie got me an outstanding gift today for Christmas - the Ancient Christian Devotional with fifty-two weeks of readings following the weekly lectionary cycle A. You can read through them in order or by thematic interest. Each day you will also find a simple opening and closing prayer drawn from the prayers and hymns of the ancient church. It uses writings from the Ancient Christian Commentary with a simply structure of daily reading and prayer.

Wow. I intend to use it over the course of the coming year.

Baptizing the Secular Calendar11Sep

Bob Pratico's picture
written by Bob Pratico on 11 Sep.

Webber, in his book Ancient-Future Faith makes the disturbing point that the contemporary church has “baptized the secular calendar” while relegating the Christian concept of time to the list of nonessentials. He’s right. For example, consider the secular “Mother’s Day” which is seemingly universally celebrated by virtually every contemporary evangelical American church … while just about every non-Charismatic evangelical church ignores the celebration of Pentecost. Huh? Does that make sense? My last church made a huge deal out of Mother’s Day every year - while in 10 years I never heard any reference whatsoever to Pentecost Sunday. Does that make any sense?
