Jeff and Judy Webb

I am just an average girl with an amazing God. I was never that brave, never really outgoing, usually was afraid of new situations. I often times would try to hide who I really was in order to fit into a crowd. I was probably on a road that was going to look mundane and ordinary, but God. God had extraordinary plans for me, and I am pretty sure He had them in mind from my mother’s womb. He rescued me from the monotony of existence with out Him to a great joy and peace in Him. He set my life on a whirlwind adventure as a missionary in Korea and in Germany. I was given the great joy of sharing my life in Christ with teens on many continents.

After my world wide adventure of 5 plus years God brought me back to Huntsville. He let me continue in youth ministry and then he changed my focus. In the past couple of years I have fallen in love with writing the truths that God places on my heart. I love to study His word and then to communicate what He teaches me through teaching and writing. I have been able to use some of these gifts here in Sojourn. It is always a blessing to be able to serve through the gifts and passions that God gives.

Sojourn has been an oasis for me and my husband. We love being a part of an authentic community of ordinary folks called out by an extraordinary God to live extraordinary lives. We love being real. We love being able to go to worship and know that God will move. He will teach. He will be glorified. We also love that being a Sojourner is not just a Sunday event, it is every day. Every day I know that I am in this journey with other Sojourners who I can call for crisis or for just plain fun. I have been so blessed by God through the Sojourn community. I stand amazed that He has invited us into this moment.

Many blessings to you!

The Reluctant Sojourner10Jul

written by Julie Rodgers on 10 Jul.

I have a confession to make.

I did not want to come to Sojourn. In fact, I fought the idea of even visiting for months. When my husband Brian and I found ourselves looking for a new church home and he mentioned visiting, I told him that we could visit “just to say we tried it” but then we were looking for a real church.

You see, I became a Christian when I was seven years old. My dad was a deacon and my mother was the organist - in big, impressive, southern baptist churches. I was comfortable in that environment. I really liked the big, traditional services, the dozens of options for Sunday school classes, the Vacation Bible School, the RA’s and GA’s, the four different time options for worship services, etc. That way I could fit church into my schedule and remain comfortable.
