I can’t believe in only 26 days, the people around us will be speaking a different language, eat different food, and have a different outlook on God. I have spent all of my life in the bible belt. I have rarely met a person that has never heard the gospel. It will be amazing to me to share the gospel with a person who may have never heard about the Bible!
As you likely know by now, Monica and I will be helping lead a group 6 staff and 14 students on a summer project in East Asia. Over the 6 weeks we will be there we will be taking culture and language classes in the mornings and spending our afternoons and evenings meeting students and sharing the gospel. The long term staff in this country have told us that 1 out of every 4 people who heard the gospel become Christian! This is a tremendous opportunity to take the gospel to people who desperately desire to know God.
With less than 4 weeks until we leave I wanted to send out some ways you can be praying for us and our team.

I definitely want to join in the 40 days of prayer!
Proverbs 11:30 says, “The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life, and whoever captures souls is wise.”
This verse has been a favorite of mine for years. As we pursue this new chapter in the life of Sojourn, we would be wise to desire to see souls captured from the enemy’s hand and brought to know Christ. Our ministry in spreading the Gospel to those less likely to hear it will bring forth great fruit for Christ’s kingdom, and I am looking with great anticipation to the new season God has planned for us, as His children, and the blessings He wants to give others through us.

“Say you’re sorry, Johnny.” As a teacher, I see many opportunities
for children to apologize for their actions. Sometimes, they realize
the error of their ways and offer a heartfelt apology. Far too often,
however, they regurgitate my words without the slightest thought about
what they’re saying. Many times, such a parroted response is more of
an insult than saying nothing at all.
The prophet Joel brought this message to his people, warning them
about the judgment of God and reminding them of His mercy. In chapter
2, verses 12-14, he lays out a plan for reconciliation.
“Even now–this is the LORD’s declaration–turn to Me with all your
heart, with fasting, weeping, and mourning. Tear your hearts, not
just your clothes, and return to the LORD your God. For He is gracious
and compassionate, slow to anger, rich in faithful love, and He
relents from sending disaster. Who knows? He may turn and relent and

Sojourn Community,
Today we embark on a Journey of Prayer. We have consecrated these next 40 days, starting today to ask the Lord for His Glory to shine forth as we Re-Launch at the Old Towne Brewery on January 11th. During this time we have asked different people to share a scripture and thought about how God has spoken to them.
I encourage each of you to read these special thoughts, to pray for this city, and to pray for Sojourn. We are desperate for God to show up. As Moses said in Exodus 33, “If God does not go with us, we do not want to go.”
Pray On!
