I have become in a show called ”30 Days.” It is a TV show done by Morgan Spurlock from ”Supersize Me” (you should watch it too). I watched 30 Days online at hulu.com. Here is the premise. A person lives 30 days in the shoes of someone else. To date I have seen the episodes on binge drinking, anti-aging and minimum wage. I recommend them only for mature audiences. Definitely a good opportunity for Christ and Culture.
I was touched by this story that I heard on NPR this morning. It’s about a guy, Julio Diaz, who was mugged by a teenager with a knife as he got off a subway in New York City. The events that happen afterwards were inspirational.
I recommend listening to the story instead of reading it. Click “Listen Now” near the top of the NPR page to hear Diaz tell the story:
Some Huntsville folks are putting together a relief trip for Lakeshore, MS. The trip will be 18-23Feb08. The cost is $50. See information below
This trip is being done by the Southern Baptist disaster relief group. They do a fantastic job with these types of projects. I’d be interested to know if any of you jump on this.
Sojourners, please consider carving out a few hours on the calendar next Tuesday for this opportunity to share the love and message of Jesus Christ to children less fortunate.
Ricardo Vega of New Life Ministries needs our help in making this event a success.
Volunteers are needed at different times:
4:30pm to ride on the school bus from New Life Outreach church to housing projects to pickup children for a tour of Botanical Gardens Christmas lights.
6pm at New Life to assist with serving food, setting up the church with gifts, etc. When the children return you will be needed in sharing the love of Jesus to the children through gift giving, singing, and just hanging out.
Please reply who can come and at what times so that I can let Ricardo know. If you do come please be sure to bring some sort of GIFT.

Peck said, “National Geographic Adventure, which claims 2.3 million readers, chose Huntsville in a state-by-state survey of areas where adventure opportunities abound. The magazine hit the newsstands Tuesday. Hiking and mountain biking trails were singled out in a brief summation of Huntsville’s selection.”
Renown lost over $31,000 of equipment and furnishings in the Olde Towne Brewing Company fire on July 5th. This benefit concert is to raise money to offset the difference between those losses and what insurance is covering.
The Renown Benefit Concert featuring Jackson Waters will be held at the Roundhouse Depot downtown on Sunday night, August 26th at 6:00 PM.
