this year was my 2nd year to attend the New Life Ministries/New Life Mens Home Christmas Party with Ricardo Vega. I always enjoy being around Ricardo, he is on fire for the Lord and does big things in this city for Christ. If you ever have a project around the house or are moving to a new home I totally recommend you call these guys to help you out. the $ you pay will pale in comparison to a moving company and it goes towards a good cause, freeing men from the chains of drug addiction.

Thoughts on the Missional Pulse of the Sojourn Community29Sep

written by dwever on 29 Sep.

One core value of Sojourn is missional life. We’ve heard that endlessly, right? We need to continue to hear that. As a church, Sojourn is a place where faith, authenticity, community, and emerging culture meet mission head on. So, let me talk about Sojourn in the context of mission for a number of paragraphs and make you an expert in this distinctive of Sojourn. Before I begin, I want to be overwhelmingly clear that God’s presence drives mission, presence drives everything! But I’ll be teaching on that this Sunday, so let me blog on this incredible concept of missional living for now.

Let me begin this discussion in earnest by reduce this heady overarching missional dimension of Sojourn into a sentence. From a missional perspective, Sojourn is about an opportunity for pure gospel expression among a unique culture with a unique sense of being, world view, and epistemology. To begin to understand how Sojourn will live this out is to begin with a missional word, contextualism. Contextualism simply refers to how we carry the unchanging message of Jesus into a given cultural context that is relevant. There are many many examples of this in Scripture. I.ll take Paul in Corinthians as an example:
