Hey Sojourn Family!!

This would be a great thing for a journey group to do together, your family, or friends! This Event is held to raise funds for the Alabama Constitution Village Foundation to better serve area students at the EarlyWorks Museums. It’s a fun and easy way to give back to Huntsville!

What is Santa’s Village?
A family event where kids of all ages can visit Santa in his home, see live reindeer, listen to stories, make crafts, enjoy live entertainment, decorate cookies, dance in falling snow, and much more! Funds raised go to the Alabama Constitution Village Foundation to better serve area students at the EarlyWorks Museums.
Where is Santa’s Village?
Downtown Huntsville in Constitution Village
What would I be doing?
You would assist children in a very easy craft.

Rethink Christmas17Dec

Chuck Colson & Anne Morse have an editorial up on the Christianity Today web site on the real meaning of Christmas entitled The Invasion of God.

“Jesus came to proclaim a new kingdom … People stripped of every material blessing and exploited by earthly powers long for Christ’s bold new kingdom. He turns the world upside down.

It’s no wonder that those opposed to Jesus’ rule ordered him crucified. He was a threat to the established order and the champion of everyone who acknowledged their imprisonment to sin.

The birth of the baby in the manger was the thrilling signal that God had invaded planet Earth.

Christianity won’t rise or fall on whether Wal-Mart employees can say “Merry Christmas.” But its future does depend, in part, on how God’s people advance God’s kingdom, as we help establish his peaceful rule in the present historical moment, until Christ reigns in all his glory.

Post-Christmas Eve Finish Line25Dec

Its 12:45am on December 25. All the chillins are finally asleep. My wife finally conked out as well. I lowered the seat of the new bike for one kiddo. Charged the batteries for another. Assembled parts for the firstborn. Set out Barbie stuff for the princess. Put together the bike ramp for them all.

All four kids are getting their top wish for Christmas. At least one of them is getting something that is beyond their hopes. I am so glad. In my internal fight against the consumerism of Christmas, I found I have robbed myself of some of the beauty of giving. Let me explain. In the past few years I have denounced the materialism of Christmas to the point that I felt guilty about buying presents for my family.
