Summertime is here and its time to play in the backyard!!

We would like to offer free babysitting the night of Friday, June 13th, starting at 6 PM and ending at 9 PM. Just drop you children off anytime at our house during these hours - Paula and I will watch them and the night is yours to go on a date, see a movie, eat dinner out with no screaming children, walk in the park, go grocery shopping, or go back home and take a nap.

If you plan to bring the kids by, e-mail us at .

If the mood just strikes you that night, bring them on anyway.

Please email me for directions…

Call or e-mail if you have any questions - I will post an event also on the website.

Have a good day!

Billy and Paula

Personal Savior only, or Savior of us all?06Apr

I don’t follow this writer, but this was an interesting take on Jesus as “personal Savior”…

Without a doubt, the decision to follow Christ should be made on a deeply personal level.

But when you limit contemplation to those times when you’re completely alone, you turn your faith into something that is completely vertical — just a single beam between you and Heaven, and the rest of the world be damned. When you start throwing around terms like “personal savior,” you lose touch with the idea of sharing that savior’s impact with the people around you.

Note also how she compares how we read the Bible today to how the early Christians read the Scriptures…

Identity in God04Apr

I always have trouble with abstract concepts, basically anything I can’t write down in my calendar, then cross out when its done - I need to hang out with Eric Morgan more so I can better understand…

What does it mean to find your identity in God? Yes, I can give a textbook answer to it. But, how do you seperate from finding at least a little of your identity through being a Husband, or a Dad, or whatever you do to earn a living? Or, practically how do you take God into all that and do it for His glory?

I’m reading “Practicing His Presence” for the 3rd time or so… that seems the most appropriate answer.

What do you think?

South Huntsville Journey Group29Mar

written by wclaunchjr on 29 Mar.

This Thursday, April 3rd, there is a new Journey Group launching in South Huntsville!! They will be meeting at our house located at 5812 Macon Drive. We are just behind Jones Valley Pool, which is right beside Southwood Presbyterian Church.

Childcard will be provided at the Journey Group, so feel free to bring your kids!

We will begin at 6:30 at our house, and run until around 8:30.

David Thew and myself will be leading the Bible Study. At this point I don’t know any topics or things are planning to cover, but God’s pretty big, so I’m sure He will show us something!

For the first JG this Thursday, Dave will be at an ACTS 29 event in Missouri, so we’d like everyone to bring your favorite appetizer or snack, store bought is fine. Don’t feel like you have to bring anything - we will have plenty here also. Basically, we will come and meet each other, hang out for a while, talk about JG some, have prayer, and head home - pretty low key the first night.

Fathers & Sons, Evangelicals & Fundamentalists28Feb

Os Guinness is thought of today by many people, I believe, as one of the world’s foremost apologists - fascinating guy with a fascinating story of his life. He lived with Francis Schaeffer at L’Bri in the 60s and 70s and authors books and speaks today.

This is a great article that dives into some of his background, but more so into the background of the Schaeffer family, who unquestionably influenced “Christian” society significantly up until now…

Also, quite an impressive article that disagrees with someone but embraces them at the same time…

I've got the Consumption28Jan

wclaunchjr's picture
written by wclaunchjr on 28 Jan.

Did you read the Huntsville Times today?

In the business section there was an article discussing how everyone in the world is on the edge of their seat waiting for the American Consumer to save the economy through a rebound in spending on stuff.

It points out how the word “consumption” used to refer to the very fatal disease of Tuberculosis, because, according to Wikipedia, “it seemed to consume people from within, with a bloody cough, fever, pallor, and long relentless wasting”

Insert here the obvious analogy to today’s definition of “consumption” and how it can destroy me in the same way, except that I already know the cure - its just a question of if I drink it!
