I went to church and left slightly disappointed and angry…not at the sermon…but about other things. After church I was crying and angry. So I went to Monte Sano to get away from things. I was reading my Bible…or at least trying to.
Fifteen minutes passed and I see a girl drive into lookout point where I was. She gets out her car and sits on the bench for a second or two then heads back into her car. I look at her and she looks in need. I felt the Lord trying to nudge me to talk to her. But I didn’t have enough guts until she got back in her car. She looked so sad.
It was about time for me to go.
I headed back to my car but made a slight detour toward hers. I knocked on her car window trying not to startle her as she just lay there contemplating. I gave the signal to roll down the window. She did. My first words were “Are you okay? My name is Heather. What’s wrong?”
She was a little hesitant at first but soon she told me her name and what her situation was. She was sad and disappointed about a relationship. The Lord had planned for me to lift this girls spirit and actually give her a inspirational book. I told her the Lord loves her and when she feels alone she is not. I told her, you may feel abandoned but God has not abandoned you today. I think he wants you to use this day to spend time with him.
I gave her the book and told her to smile! She did, and as I left, she was still reading the book the Lord told me to give her.
I had my own disappointment and that’s why I went to the park. The Lord led my there and my frustrations had actually paralleled with hers. The Lord truly is my Father and Counselor. He teaches me things and helps me through my emotional highs and lows. I was honored to lend an ear to my fellow sister in need.
One of the other questions I asked her was “do you believe in God” then “do you believe in Jesus”. She said yes to both and I proceeded. It was neat. If she hadn’t responded I don’t know what I would of said. I still would have been positive and gave her the same advice. The Lord gave me the words to say and he still would have. And if she wasn’t a believer the Lord still would’ve spoke to her heart.
God lends his ear to a crying soul, to a soul in need, he truly does care. So, when you have an opportunity, and you sense hesitancy, good……go for it…rely on the Lord…lend an ear…and he’ll do all the talking and you’ll be amazed…especially.

Thanks for sharing, Heather.
Thanks for sharing, Heather. You have a sensitive heart. Y’know, God never wastes a pain. If we pout, hold it in, and remain self-absorbed it only gets worse. On the other hand, if we “cast our cares upon Him” (1 Peter 5:7) he will not only stoop to us but He will give us the privilege to be His hands and feet to someone else. Your courage and obedience inspires me. May Christ be exalted.

Heather, i agree with David,
Heather, i agree with David, your post is very encouraging and a testament of the daily call to obedience Christ puts before us, every single day He calls us and you not only listened but obeyed, something that almost always takes us out of our comfort zone and into a zone of faith and reliance, which is what walking in the spirit is all about. Thank you Heather may you be encouraged by the Spirit

Oh Heather, I am so glad God
Oh Heather, I am so glad God led you to share with the girl and subsequently share it with us! I needed this today; I needed a reminder to look past my own pain and see others first. Thank you!!
Heather, thank you so much
Heather, thank you so much for sharing. I am so encouraged to hear this. I hope that girl took your “advice” and sought the Lord with her troubles. This story just makes me smile! :)
