mobile bible

Many of you have mobile devices (smartphones) capable of accessing internet webpages anytime you want. Over the past two years I have discovered a few mobile online Bibles that you may find handy. These links below are specially formatted for easy viewing on small screens like your phones.

http://www.gnpcb.org/esv/mobile/ - My new favorite. Offers an easy-to-navigate layout and the pages load very fast. English Standard Version only.
http://mbible.com - The site I’ve used the most. Offers 14 different translations.
http://m.youversion.com/ - From LifeChurch.tv. A site that I’ve rarely used but has a lot of buzz in the blogosphere.

With these websites you can carry The Gospel around with you anywhere you have your mobile device with a data plan. Of course, you could always go out and buy software Bibles to put on your phone. I’ll let you determine the pros and cons of doing that.

An update from Kelli Dees11Jul

Hello Sojourners!

I am back from Spain, and what a delight to be in HuntsVegas for a little while! I loved being a part of the wonderful service and being able to be a part of some amazing worship at Sojourn the end of June.

I just wanted to thank each and every one of you for your intercession and support as I was in Spain. It was amazing to see how the Father worked in the lives of several Spanish students and in some Spanish families. I loved being able to teach English as a second language classes to the students.

Please continue to remember Spanish friends that the word they have been given will speak to their hearts. I have been calling and chatting with not yet believing friends in Spain, and the conversations have been great. Please ask that they will seek the truth in their lives and that the Father would provide other believers in their lives as well.

The Father has been working through your prayers.

Uncontacted tribe found in Peru/Brazil31May

written by EA on 31 May.

I was amazed when I saw these pictures and read the story of a newly discovered indigenous tribe on the Peru/Brazil border that has not been contacted by civilization.  Reports say that there are about 100 uncontacted tribes in the world and half of them are in the Brazil/Peru area. Silly me. I assume that Man has explored the entire world.

What a sight it must have been to see a low flying object zipping across the canopy of their land; the men aiming their weapons.

Blogging at Sojourn. Some tips. How you can participate.28May

Blogging on Sojourn’s website is not necessarily an exclusive feature reserved for the chosen geeks. Any regular Sojourner can have a blog here on the Sojourn website. In fact, over thirty people at Sojourn have already shared a thought through a blog post in the last year. I think that’s part of a church being an authentic community of people publishing content that is relevant to other Sojourners, Huntsvillians, and others in the blogosphere. Real stories from real people.

Did you know:

33 different Sojourners have blogged on this website.
861 different blog posts have been made.
Each blog post gets read 288 times on average.
Some blog posts are read several thousand times.
Over 2100 comments have been made.

If you want to establish a blog on this website, contact Eric Morgan or me and we’ll enable blogging privileges on your account. Once we’ve done that, you can post a blog. Try tying your story to God’s story.

Missional mugging in NYC28Mar

EA's picture

I was touched by this story that I heard on NPR this morning. It’s about a guy, Julio Diaz, who was mugged by a teenager with a knife as he got off a subway in New York City. The events that happen afterwards were inspirational.

I recommend listening to the story instead of reading it. Click “Listen Now” near the top of the NPR page to hear Diaz tell the story:

Teaser:

Diaz replied, “Well, haven’t you been taught you should be nice to everybody?”

“Yea, but I didn’t think people actually behaved that way,” the teen said.

When you ask Mark Driscoll anything25Jan

Mark Driscoll at Mars Hill in Seattle is doing two neat experiments.  First, they created a website in which the mass public can submit a question to be answered by Driscoll.  Then, the community voted on the questions that they’d most like Driscoll to answer.  He’s actually preaching sermons based on these questions now.  You can check out video of his sermons at http://marshillchurch.org/.  The top 9 questions have been decided and you can see the results here:  http://askanything.marshillchurch.org/

Recently, Driscoll polled the audience in real time.  He asked them to send questions to him in real time.  He would then answer the questions right there on the spot.  No question was off the table.  Anything could be asked.  The questions are “mature” in nature and deal with topics that you don’t traditionally hear in a church setting.  In fact, this is Driscoll’s take on the questions.  Here is a set of 11 questions and Driscoll’s response.
